Day 18
Day 18: I Pray the Lord My Soul to Keep: A faithful soul keeper.
Watch the Video Above: I Pray the Lord My Soul to Keep - Cindy
Overview: Our soul is priceless and eternal. Scripture tells us that our bodies can be destroyed by man, but not our soul. And it is worth protecting. How often do you try to be your own keeper of your soul? Do you build walls so no one can get in. Are you bound by false truths and a false sense of who you are, believing what others think of you defines you? Do you feel like you are the only one capable of protecting the core of who you are? When we do this, we shut out God and don’t trust Him to protect us – to be the keeper of our soul. Allow God to be the one who you turn to when you are afraid. Allow Him to let you land in green pastures and rest in Him. Let Him keep you and your soul safe. He’s a faithful soul keeper. He’s the lock on the door to your soul, keeping the bad things out and completely supplying all of your needs inside.
Scripture:
1 Peter 4:19 NKJV
Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator.
Practical Guide: To live with and comprehend that we have a soul is confusing and elusive for many people - so much so that Jesus warns us to be careful not to lose our soul! If you neglect your soul you lose touch with it. To lose soulfulness is to lose your vitality for living and loving well.
Today, I will memorize the following scripture and recite it throughout the day. I will reflect on the value my soul has and thank God for it throughout the day.
Matthew 16:26
And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for my soul and for how incredibly valuable it is. Do not let me neglect my soul or lose my soulfulness. Please help me not take this for granted and please protect and keep my soul safe form the enemy and the distractions of the world. In Jesus name, amen.
Quiet Time Moment: For the next 60 seconds, sit quietly (without distractions), embrace the presence of the Lord and seek to hear His voice.
