Children

At Compass Community Church, safety and security of our children are top priorities. Our Compass Kids area is secure and monitored throughout Sunday morning worship and celebration time. ONLY authorized individuals are allowed inside the Compass Kids area during these times. All Children’s Ministry volunteers are background-checked and approved by the church staff.

All children attending Compass Kids MUST be registered and signed in and out by a parent or guardian. Each child will be given a name tag/ID number, and a unique family ID sticker is given to parents upon check-in. This sticker MUST be presented at check-out before children can be dismissed.

Compass Kids is the place for all kids! Fun and engaging experiences are designed just for your child’s age, including singing, interactive activities and Bible lessons. Classes are provided for:
•  Nursery: Ages Birth – 1 year
•  Toddlers: 1-2.5 years
•  Preschool: 2.5 years to 5
•  Kindergarten-2nd grade
•  3rd-5th grade

Our nursery is designed for our youngest Compass Kids. The teacher to child ratio is 1:4 and includes a lot of attention from our volunteers. The space is designed for developmentally appropriate activities such as tummy time, interactive infant toys, stories and music. Your infant is sure to be safe and loved while you attend service.

Our Toddler room is furnished with child size equipment just right for the busy toddler.  Trucks, dramatic play, story books and baby dolls are all available for our 1 and 2 year olds. Our toddler curriculum consists of a short bible story and a lot of hands on play time. Parents, you can trust your toddlers are safe and loved while you attend “Big Church”.

Our Preschool classroom is located right next door to our toddler room for easy access for children to transition when the time is right. Each week our preschoolers have the opportunity to engage in an age appropriate curriculum focused on the life of Jesus along with a related craft activity. The classroom also has a dramatic play items, a sensory table, a variety of developmentally appropriate manipulatives and baskets of books.

Our Kindergarten through 2nd grade students are situated in a classroom specifically designed to allow them to be who they are.  The classroom includes story books, manipulatives, arts/craft supplies and puzzles.  Students in this classroom will be engaged in curriculum that includes specific stories from the bible that highlight the works of Jesus and his disciples.  At this age, children are taught a memory verse and have the opportunity to do a lot of sharing and discussing.  At the end of class students are allowed to mingle and play until dismissal.

Our 3rd through 5th grade classroom is designed with the “Big Kids” in mind.  This classroom has comfortable furniture to create a relaxed environment.  Children are encouraged to talk about their life experiences and share examples of how they have demonstrated God’s love.  Our students Kindergarten through 5th grade are informed of why Jesus died for us and encourage to lean towards giving their life over to Christ.  Our children also experience an age appropriate bible story and an applicable hands on activity.  Many times these children get to participate in actual role play activities to equip them for their life experiences outside of church and home.
