Day 13

Day 13: My Achy Breaky Heart: God loves the brokenhearted.

Watch the Video Above: My Achy Breaky Heart - Bob

Overview: This journey of life has many ups and unfortunately, many downs. Let’s face it, life is hard and at times we can feel brokenhearted. The enemy wants to destroy us and our relationships with each other and with God. This can feel overwhelming at times and we can feel the heaviness of it in our hearts. But in Luke 4, Jesus said he came to heal the brokenhearted. Jesus is God’s rescue plan for us all – a rescue plan that includes peace for our troubled hearts.

Scripture:

Psalm 34:18

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

John 14:1

“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.

John 14:27

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

Practical Guide: Today, on a small piece of paper or post-it note, I will write down at least one trouble, worry or anxiety that I am facing currently. I will pray over this paper, and then let Jesus take it from me – to bring peace to me and this situation. Today, I will allow Jesus to heal me of this worry or brokenness. (Consider tearing up this post-it note or burning it - safely, of course - as a visible reminder that Jesus knows your hurt and wants you to be free of it).

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for loving me and for knowing me and my troubles. Help me be aware of your power and grace and help me to let go of the things that are worrying or hurting me today. Help me to truly understand and be confident in your promise to heal me from my broken-heartedness. Lord, heal me and restore me emotionally and spiritually to who you have originally created and designed me to be. Thank you for loving me like you do. In Jesus name, amen.

Quiet Time Moment: For the next 60 seconds, sit quietly (without distractions), embrace the presence of the Lord and seek to hear His voice.
