Once again, we have rooms for our children’s and youth ministries to meet and hold their celebrations and a designated hall in which to hold our main celebration. We are very excited about our transition to Elements!

If you missed it this Sunday, Dorrien started a new series: Jump Off. This week’s topic focused on taking care of the temple. Here at Compass we are blessed to have several members of our community who work in the area of Health/Fitness/Well. Today Candance reiterates the information she shared on Sunday…. Change is hard. Changing how we eat is really hard, but adding little changes over time will pay off. Here are a few changes we can make right now toward healthier eating. 1) Make water your primary beverage. Water cleanses and detoxifies the body and can actually help control hunger. Try drinking two glasses of water before each meal. 2) Eat more fresh produce. Raw, fresh produce contains enzymes that aid in digestion and help repair and nourish our cells. Try eating a vegetable-packed salad with dinner each day. 3) Instead of white bread, white rice, and white potatoes, eat things like brown rice, whole grain bread and pasta, sweet potatoes and oatmeal. Whole grains and complex carbs are fiber-rich, enabling the body to sweep toxins out of our digestive system. 4) Always read ingredient lists and eliminate foods with unknown or harmful ingredients. If some of your favorite foods fall into this category, learn how to make them from scratch and take control of what goes into your body. I know it can be challenging, but investing in your health with these simple changes will put you on the path to better nutrition. If you need help consider one of my Taste-Love-Live classes, which offer delicious, creative options toward healthier eating. For more info contact me at cmg@fuse.net.

Compass is blessed to have the friendliest, nicest, and most welcoming greeters around. This week we’d like to give you the opportunity to get to know one of them better….Robert Ferguson. Hi everyone, My name is Robert. My wife Jimmie and I are the couple that greets you every second Sunday. We really enjoy being greeters because I was always told that the first people you meet in a church form your lasting impressions of that church. I also serve with the prayer ministry as I firmly believe that prayer changes our lives for the better. I am currently employed by Ford Motor Company but I also find time to teach New Testament Greek at a Bible College in Madisonville when they need me. We initially got involved with a small group and our areas of service just took off from there. Personally for me, it was a bit scary at first, but now it seems to be second nature. We’ve done several other acts of service with various groups and they’ve been great times of rejoicing. To me the book recommended by the Pastor for this month seems to say it all. Just Walk across the Room – that’s really all you have to do. Get involved Do it. We are empty nesters but one time we did have our teen aged grandaughters with us and they pitched in on a nursing home service. You never know where the Lord will lead you if you don’t obey His second commandment – “love your neighbor as yourself.” You love by serving Thanks Robert

Compass Community Church
